Our service

So far, weve not failed to repair a faulty solar PV system. Call us and we will talk you through some basic checks. It might just be a tripped circuit breaker that you can reset yourself.

It may require us to visit to carry out wiring repairs, diagnostic work or a replacement inverter, but help is just a phone call away. We will get your solar system up and running quickly.

How we work

We are a small family team and we prefer to give you a personal service. If you have a fault with your solar PV system we will try and understand the problem over the phone. If a replacement inverter is required we can usually give you a quote then. For other repairs we charge on an hourly basis, this is dependant upon your location. Unlike some other companies, we aim to repair the system if possible, not just replace the inverter.

We carry out full AC and DC testing, including testing the solar panels, on each home we visit, most systems have never had any maintenance since they were installed. We also carry out visual checks on the solar panels and roof mounting. The checks we do help us diagnose any current and possible future problems, its all part of the service and gives you confidence in our work.

We do not take any up-front payments or deposits, when the repair is complete, we can take card payments or bank transfer. We will then issue the relevant paperwork and warranty documentation.

We work within a couple of hours travel time of our base. This is because we are not prepared to subcontract the work as some national suppliers do. We find that dealing with all aspects of the enquiry personally, makes for a better customer experience, plus in the event of an aftersales issue we can respond quickly.

How much does an Inverter replacement cost?

Each installation is different, some may have a few solar panels and some have sixteen or more. Some systems require a dual (MPPT) tracker and some single trackers. It is usually best to give us a call and explain your system, we can help diagnose the problem and offer a fixed price should the inverter require replacing.

To give you an idea of the cost, most of our replacement inverters range from £650+vat to £900+vat including 10 year manufacturer warranty. We choose the inverter that will deliver the most output, this may not always be the same as the one installed. This is because the original installer may have fitted an undersized unit to save on cost.

Premium options, monitoring systems, battery storage are all available, please ask.

This is for a complete installation including all the testing, within 50 mile radius of our base in Holmfirth, near Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. Small additional charges may apply outside this area to cover time and travel, please contact us with your requirements for a fixed price. We cover South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire. North Yorkshire and parts of Lancashire and Derbyshire.

Plain speaking warranty

We only install quality inverters. We are professional solar technicians and have worked in this industry for over 15 years. We are also Part P Registered Electricians, so you can have peace of mind that your solar repair will be carried out by experts.

Sometimes things can go wrong, and if it does, we have a comprehensive warranty in place. All our inverters are covered by a 10 year product warranty from the manufacturer and we also offer 12 months warranty on the installation work.

Monitor your system

Unfortunately, all too often, the phone call we get, is after the Feed In Tariff reading has been rejected. This is because the system has had a fault for some time and your generation meter has not counted up. If this happens over the summer, then you will lose valuable Feed In tariff payments.

At Solar Repair Yorkshire we recommend that the meter is read at least monthly to ensure that it is counting up. Some people find it useful to write down the reading in a book kept next to the meter, its easy to refer back, and the data can help diagnose a problem later on. Hopefully you read this before its happens to you!

Inverter fault codes

Most inverters have an LCD display and in the event of a fault an error code may be displayed. This information can help us to diagnose your system and help us to get it back up and running again. If possible having this information when you call is a great help. Please don’t put yourself at risk going into the loft if you are unsteady on your feet.

Example error code - EO31

Power One Aurora or ABB inverter - error code E031 this is usually in internal fault with the circuit board specifically the output relay / contactor.

Solis inverter fault code OV Bus - An internal fault on the Solis inverter, that usually requires a replacement inverter
